# What You'll Need:

01 - 10 cups of apple slices (about 8 big apples).
02 - 2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade).
03 - 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.
04 - 1/4 teaspoon each of nutmeg and allspice.
05 - 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon.
06 - 1 beaten egg combined with 1 tablespoon of milk (for brushing).

08 - Coarse sugar for sprinkling (optional).
09 - 1/2 cup of white sugar.

# Preparation Steps:

01 - Toss apple slices with the sugar, flour, and spices. Squeeze in the lemon juice. If you'd like, warm it all in a skillet for around 5 minutes.
02 - Set the oven at 400°F. Lay the bottom crust into a pan, spoon in the filling (warm or cool). Slice the top crust into strips, weave them, fold and pinch edges together. Brush with the egg and milk mix, then sprinkle sugar over if you want.
03 - Start baking at 400°F for 25 minutes. Lower the heat to 375°F, cover the edges with a pie shield, and bake for another 35-40 minutes. Let it cool a minimum of 3 hours before cutting.
