Preheat oven to 400°F and lightly grease a baking dish with olive oil.

Pat chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Lay chicken breasts in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.

Spread basil pesto evenly over the top of each chicken breast, covering the surface fully.

Scatter halved cherry tomatoes over and around the chicken. Top each breast with shredded mozzarella and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.

Transfer baking dish to the oven and bake uncovered at 400°F for 25 to 30 minutes, until chicken is cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F) and cheese is bubbly and golden.

Remove baking dish from oven and allow chicken to rest for 5 to 7 minutes before slicing and serving.
