In a large skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp, about 5-7 minutes. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain. Once cooled, crumble into small pieces and reserve.

Rub both sides of each chicken breast with olive oil. Evenly sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper over each side.

Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken breasts and sear for 4-5 minutes per side until golden-brown.

While chicken sears, chop green onions and measure out barbecue sauce.

Reduce skillet heat to medium. Pour barbecue sauce evenly over chicken. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over sauce.

Scatter crumbled bacon over the cheese-covered chicken.

Transfer skillet to preheated oven and bake 10-12 minutes, or until chicken is thoroughly cooked and cheese is fully melted and bubbling.

Remove skillet from oven. Sprinkle chopped green onions over the cooked chicken. If desired, garnish with red pepper flakes for additional heat. Let rest for several minutes before serving.
