Set your oven to 350°F (177°C). Line the inside of an 8x8 inch square pan with baking parchment, making sure it covers the base and edges.

Pop your butter into the microwave for a minute to melt it. Let it cool for about 10-15 minutes so it's warm, not hot.

Grab a bowl and whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.

Mix the cooled butter with brown sugar in a bowl. Stir in the egg, vanilla, and mashed bananas until smooth.

Slowly mix the dry ingredients with the wet base. Gently fold in most of the chocolate chips, keeping a few aside for topping.

Pour the mix into the pan and sprinkle the leftover chocolate chips on top. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the center is cooked through and a toothpick comes out clean.

Let it cool fully, then lift it out of the pan using the parchment paper and cut into slices.
