Set oven to 400°F and line a rimmed baking sheet or small baking dish.

Pat chicken breasts dry. Evenly coat both sides with garlic powder, chili powder or smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt.

Arrange the seasoned chicken breasts on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F. Remove from oven and set aside.

While chicken bakes, melt the butter in a small saucepan or skillet over medium heat. If using, sauté minced garlic for 1 to 2 minutes until aromatic. Stir in honey, smoked paprika, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and a pinch of salt. Simmer briefly until the glaze is thick and smooth, then remove from heat.

Brush or drizzle the hot honey glaze generously over the warm baked chicken breasts. Let rest for a few minutes to allow the glaze to set before serving.

Garnish with chopped fresh herbs such as thyme or parsley if desired, and serve.
